SPENCER, MA (WHDH) — Witnesses came together to save a driver after a van rolled over in Spencer Tuesday.

It happened at the corner of Maple and Cherry streets.

According to firefighters, the van crashed into a home and rolled over in the road.

The driver’s arm ended up pinned by the van.

A group of bystanders lifted the vehicle, allowing the driver to get free.

The driver suffered a major medical issue, not only injuring his arm but also his head.

Neighbors said it was important to get him out as soon as possible.

The good Samaritans said they were able to free the man by finding bits of wood from the wreckage, wedging it under the van, and freeing his arm just in the nick of time.

The driver underwent surgery on his arm Wednesday night.

Doctors will monitor his progress.
