RANDOLPH, MASS. (WHDH) - A serious crash on Interstate 93-Southbound left one person trapped in a flipped car overnight Wednesday.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning between exits five and six on the Braintree-Randolph line.

The car flipped and landed on top of a guardrail, facing the wrong way on the highway.

The car lost its two front tires, and it is unclear if the missing tires caused the crash or were a result of the crash’s impact.

Three people driving by pulled over to try and help the victim out of the car, but the situation was too difficult.

Rescue crews had to use the Jaws of Life to pry open the smoking vehicle, taking an hour to pull the person out.

The victim was brought to a hospital and the roadways have since been cleared.

The status of the driver is unknown at this time.
