BOSTON (WHDH) - With just one week until Thanksgiving, Google Maps revealed a new report detailing the best and worst times to drive during the holiday week for road travelers.
Google says the guide is based on data collected from past traffic trends.
According to the report, Boston-area drivers should travel on the Sunday before Thanksgiving to avoid the most traffic.
Google also says the worst travel day is Wednesday, the day just before the holiday, and the best day to return is Friday, the day following Thanksgiving.
Those who wait until Saturday to travel home should expect delays. For those picking up relatives or friends flying into the Boston, Google reports that cities with busy airports, traffic can be up to 60 percent worse than average workdays. Though, Boston does not land in the report’s list of five busiest airports: New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Dallas.
