WALTHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - Governor Charlie Baker took time to recognize first responders at an awards ceremony in Waltham Thursday.

The First Responders Awards Ceremony honored those who saved a life or helped prevent the death of another officer or first responder.

Governor Baker thanked the first responders for their efforts to save people’s lives every day.

“There are moms and dads who know they have their son or daughter because of the work of first responders,” Governor Baker said. “There are kids who know their parents are still with them because of the work of first responders.”

The governor also spoke about the lives saved using Narcan, and said thousands of people would have died without first responders using the drug.
