AMHERST, MASS. (WHDH) - Flags will not be flown at Hampshire College in Massachusetts anymore after a campus controversy.
The decision comes after someone apparently burned an American flag on the college’s Amherst campus.
The college initially flew the flag at half-staff following the presidential election, because of reported hate crimes across the country.
Now campus leaders say they want to turn the discussion away from the flag – and to bigger issues facing students like racism and discrimination.
