The Plymouth County DA’s office has announced that a Hingham Police sergeant was found guilty of misleading police officers and claiming benefits for a false injury he said happened on the job.

Kris Phillips, 53 of Hingham, was sentenced to two years in a house of corrections with six months to serve.

Phillips was working a detail at the Hingham Shipyard stores when he said he was struck and injured by a person backing a car out of a parking spot. An investigation determined the story was fabricated.

Phillips is also ordered to pay $1,900 in restitution and cannot work in law enforcement or carry a firearm.
