Classic January day out there….sunny skies but cold–especially during the morning hours as many of us started the day in the single numbers & teens. As we stepped through the day the sun–even with limited firepower–was able to boost those temps into the low 40s….for this time of year, I’ll take that! We have more sunshine on tap for tomorrow and like today, we start rather cold (teens & 20s) but make a solid recovery reaching the low 40s by afternoon.

High Pressure has been supplying us with all this sunshine and he’s still with us on Friday but ironically enough a cloudy day is expected. The reason is the air flowing around High Pressure will be coming off the Gulf of Maine on Friday and that will scrape some moisture off the ocean, creating clouds for the day here in New England. Temps on Friday take a hit due to the clouds….only in the mid & upper 30s.

The weekend is unsettled both days with not one but two storms. The first–slated for Saturday–is annoying (like the telemarketer that keeps calling you at home) with cloudy skies & a few patches of drizzle. Heads up–some of that drizzle may be in the form of freezing drizzle Saturday Morning along & west of I-495. Otherwise, no travel issues for the rest of the day (or the region). Sunday’s storm is legit. It will pass to our west and in doing so will drag mild air into New England so we track raindrops not snowflakes.

Cold, dry weather returns early next week.
