LEOMINSTER, MASS. (WHDH) - Loved ones were joined by members of the community in Leominster at a vigil in memory of a woman found dead in the woods.

Vanessa Marcotte, 27, was found dead in the woods in Princeton hours after she left her mother’s house to go jogging. Her body was found just half a mile from her mother’s house and sources told 7News her body had been burned. Another vigil was held Tuesday night in Princeton.

“I haven’t slept for two nights knowing what this family is going through,” said Brenda Giambrocco.

Marcotte, who went to high school in Worcester and graduated from Boston University in 2011, worked as an account manager for Google in New York City. She was in Massachusetts visiting family.

“We watched Vanessa grow from a baby to adulthood,” said Joanna Damico, who spent every Thanksgiving with Marcotte and her father. “We’re here no matter when, no matter what he needs.”

“There somebody out there who saw something,” said Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella. He urged anyone with information to call the police department’s tip line.

Police said while they have received hundreds of tips, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information on Marcotte’s death is asked to call their anonymous tip line at 508-453-7589.
