Lawyers have delivered closing arguments in the trial of a Los Angeles copyright lawsuit that claims Led Zeppelin’s guitarist and singer stole a riff from the band Spirit for their 1971 hit “Stairway to Heaven.”

Plaintiff’s attorney Francis Malofiy told the jury Wednesday that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are amazing musicians but he criticized them as having selective memories and convenient truths on the witness stand.

A lawyer for Page and Plant says they can’t be blamed for faulty memories of events a half-century ago.

Attorney Peter Anderson says any copyright lawsuit should have been brought back when “Stairway to Heaven” came out.

Attorneys for the estate of the late Randy Wolfe, founder of Spirit, claim the riff was taken from the 1968 song “Taurus.”
