BOSTON (WHDH) - Police say a domestic disturbance and subsequent chase ended with an officer being struck on Friday.

Police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance on Julian Street in Dorchester at 3 p.m. Friday.

The suspect, a 30-year-old Lawrence man who was not identified, was in a car, speaking with a woman outside the car.

When officers approached, the suspect drove away quickly, striking one of the officers who had approached the vehicle.

The suspect also allegedly struck a parked car and sped away from the scene.

Officers attempted to pursue the car but lost sight of the vehicle. Hoping to find him on the highway, officers searched the area and found the suspect after he crashed on I-93 North near exit 16.

The suspect attempted to run away but was captured.

Police found the man was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants and that the plates on his car had been reported stolen.

The suspect will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court at a later date on several charges.

The officer involved was treated and released at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
