BOSTON (WHDH) - Ahead of LEGO Day at Fenway Park on Wednesday, David Ortiz and his son, D’Angelo had a rare opportunity to meet…LEGO David Ortiz.

The statue, which will be displayed in the Kid’s Concourse at Fenway Park during Wednesday’s afternoon game against the Tampa Bay Rays, was unveiled to the legendary Sox slugger, who posed for pictures with LEGO Papi.

The statue was built in Enfield, Conn. at the company’s North American headquarters. The build was overseen by LEGO Master Builder Erik Varszegi.

In total, it took 290 hours to build the statue, which consists of 34,510 bricks. It is 6 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds – meaning it’s taller but lighter than its real-life counterpart. David Ortiz is listed as 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds.
