MASHPEE, MASS. (WHDH) - Two Mashpee police officers are now the focus of an internal investigation after video showed them using a stun gun on a suspect during an arrest.

Mashpee Police said they went to a house on Cranberry Lane to arrest Ryan Ridenour, who was wanted for assault and battery on a police officer in Wrentham. Ridenour’s girlfriend filmed the arrest as his mother asked the officers to explain their actions. As Ridenour asked if he could get out of the cruiser, he claims the officers used the stun gun on him. He now faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.

Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline said the two officers knew they were being videotaped. As soon as he learned about it, Carline said he launched an internal investigation.

Statement from Ridenour’s attorney Peter Aspesi:

“Due to the pending criminal charges I cannot comment about the video tape which has surfaced or any other evidence in this case. However, after speaking with my client and various witnesses to the incident I am confident that when the evidence is evaluated by a jury of his peers, Mr. Ridenour will be cleared of all charges.”
