EAST BROOKFIELD, MA (WHDH) — Animal rescued from North Carolina following Hurricane Matthew have arrived at a shelter in Massachusetts.

Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield received 22 cats last week through the ASPCA. The ASPCA helped move the cats out of shelters in affected areas.

In addition, four dogs came in to the shelter through the Human Society of the United States. The dogs were transported from North Carolina following severe damage and rising flood waters.

Second Chance will now help coordinate the adoption of the animals.
