ALLSTON, MASS. (WHDH) - September means move-in day for college students in Boston and the city is preparing for stuck trucks, traffic and piles of junk on curbs.

Moving trucks are already making their way into neighborhoods like the Back Bay and Brookline and are also getting stuck.

Several have already gotten stuck under overpasses on Storrow Drive, prompting Massachusetts State Police to remind their social media followers that trucks do not belong there.

Over in Allston, Sept. 1 has become an unofficial holiday: Allston Christmas. As people move out of their apartments, unwanted furniture and other items pile up on the curb for the taking.

Boston released an interactive map, details areas in neighborhoods that drivers may want to avoid because of all the college students returning.
