ARLINGTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A sinking SUV has finally been lifted out of Spy Pond in Arlington.

A 68-year-old woman was rescued Friday by three good Samaritans after her car went into Spy Pond in Arlington.

Police said they received reports of a car into the pond around at 1 p.m. The Medford woman was the only person in the car. Police said she accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake on her Ford SUV.

A witness captured dramatic video as a man swam out to the car, opening one of the back doors and helping the woman escape. She was then taken to a local hospital with mild hypothermia.

“She was very, very scared and had taken in water and she just figured this was it,” said Dan Frazier. His friend Ken Chapman, visiting from Australia, helped pull her into shore.

The women will not face criminal charges.
