BOSTON (WHDH) - A convicted child rapist who was recently released from prison to live with his parents in Weymouth has been held without bail pending extradition to Rhode Island.

Richard Gardner was arrested at a homeless shelter in South Boston Friday after the US Marshal’s service in Rhode Island said he violated his probation.

Investigators have not released specific details about how Gardner allegedly violated his probation.

Residents in Weymouth were outraged when Gardner moved into his parents home after serving 27 years behind bars for raping young boys.

He was originally sentenced to 190 years in prison for his crimes in Rhode Island.

He received a shorter sentence on appeal.

Gardner said he will not fight the extradition.
