CHATHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - A shark was recently caught on camera stealing a fish from a fishing line in Chatham.

The great white shark swam off after taking its meal.

It was an exciting day of fishing for Stephen Lamb and his wife Linda last weekend.

Stephen was reeling in a striped bass when out of nowhere the shark jumped out of the water.

“Linda spotted the shark before anybody else, before it was in attack mode, then all of a sudden it burst out of the water,” Stephen Lamb said.

The shark stunned the fishing party and stole the fish.

“I was happy to lose the fish that way,” he said. “You lose fish all the time, but if a shark got a meal out of it, that was great.”

Once the shark pounced, Linda Lamb was ready to head back to shore.

Stephen Lamb said his wife has now regained her composure and wants to go back out on the water to see another shark.

This is the second shark Stephen Lamb has spotted off of Chatham in two weeks.

“I think there’s a lot more sharks out there than people realize, but don’t bother them, they won’t bother you,” he said.
