YARMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A driver has been charged after crashing into a parked police cruiser in Yarmouth.

On July 6, a 49-year-old Hyannis woman drive on Route 6A struck a parked, marked Yarmouth Police cruiser.

A police officer inside the cruiser was conducting speed enforcement in the Yarmouth Port Village area.

According to police, the driver drifted to the right, over the fog line and struck the rear of the cruiser and then flipped over.

Police and fire responded to the scene and the road was closed for about an hour.

The officer was uninjured and the driver was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver was charged with operating to endanger and failure to stay within marked lanes.
