TEWKSBURY, MASS. (WHDH) - Fallen Auburn Officer Ron Tarentino grew up in Tewksbury, where the community is remembering him and supporting his family.
Tarentino comes from a police family; his father is a retired Medford Police officer and his uncle is an officer with the same department. He graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1991, where he was the captain of the basketball team.
“It’s devastating,” said Pat Paquette, a neighbor of Tarentino’s parents. Paquette tied black and blue ribbons around her trees as a show of support to the family.
Officers from the Tewksbury Police Department, where some of the officers knew him personally, are wearing black bands on their badges in memory of Tarentino.
