Health officials say opioid prescriptions have dropped in the U.S.

The number of prescriptions for the addictive painkillers are down for the first time in nearly two decades.

Prescriptions have skyrocketed since 1996, when Oxycontin hit the market.

Doctors also say fatal opioid overdoses are on the rise.

About 28,000 people died due to opioid overdoses in 2014.
