BOSTON (WHDH) - Officials are still investigating a tragic incident that killed two construction workers in Boston’s South End on Friday.

The men were trapped after a water main broke and flooded the trench.

They were working on Dartmouth Street.

Onlookers said it was a chaotic scene—water gushed out quickly flooding the road.

A few men escaped from the trench and tried to help the others but were unfortunately too late.

Fellow worker consoled one another after the incident.

The men’s bodies were recovered Friday night after hours of recovery efforts.
