CANTON, MASS. (WHDH) - Fire crews were called out to two small fires at Kennedy Elementary School Sunday morning.

One fire was contained to a dumpster and the other a mulched area of the playground.

Officials said the two fires appear to have been intentionally set.

A little after 2 a.m. vandals were seen on surveillance starting a fire on the playground at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School.

Police said the vandals were running back and forth to get paper from a recycle dumpster to keep the fire going.

A one point, police said the vandals were seen rolling a trash barrel full of paper on fire across the playground.

The fire was still smoldering when it was discovered by a passerby later Sunday morning. The dumpster, where residents bring their recycling, was charred. Wood chips on the ground in the playground were also burned.

The video showed the individuals walking around the playground before the fire was set, and running away after the afterward.

Police said it looked like eight or nine individuals were involved, at least one female.

Police released the video in hopes that someone would recognize the individuals and come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Canton Police at 781-828-1212.
