A teen who spoke out about surviving a sexual assault at a New Hampshire prep school is receiving an outpouring of support.

Chessy Prout, 17, was assaulted in 2014, when she was a 15-year-old student at Saint Paul’s Prep.

Former classmate Owen Labrie was convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault and sentenced to a year in jail.

Prout spoke publicly about the incident for the first time on the Today Show on Tuesday.

She announced a new campaign: “#IHaveTheRightTo.”

Survivors have been submitting a note or video to Prout’s website with their own examples.

The campaign’s Twitter page was flooded with support, thanking Prout for coming forward with her story, where she described what it was like returning to school after
the incident.

Labrie is currently out of jail on bail and is appealing his conviction.
