BERLIN, Mass. (WHDH) — Massachusetts State Police put an active police search in place in Berlin as they searched for an alleged bank robber.

The search started on Sunday afternoon. Two officers were injured during the search, but both are expected to be fine.

In a Facebook post, police asked all residents, and their pets, to go and remain indoors.

They also asked residents to report any suspicious or out of place vehicles or people to the Berlin Police Department by calling 911.

Officials said the man allegedly robbed a bank in West Boylston and got away.

Officers spotted a the suspect on a stolen motorcycle a few towns away. A chase began in Marlborough but police had to stop it because speeds were so fast.

Police then spotted the man at a gas station but escaped out the back door before they arrived.

Police described the suspect as a white male, wearing black shorts, a black shirt and white socks.

Along with the alleged bank robbery, the man is also believed to have stolen a motorcycle and robbed a home full of weapons.

Police said the person should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

They have asked residents to not approach and to call authorities immediately.
