ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — Police in Andover are on the lookout for a suspicious ice cream truck after its driver attempted to speak with a teenage girl while she was walking alone after school this week.

Officers responded around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday after a 16-year-old girl reported that a man in an ice cream truck said “Hey” and “Hello” to her before driving off.

The girl told police the truck was marked only with “Ice Cream” in blue lettering. The man never exited the vehicle.

Police have been unable to locate the truck. Residents of Andover and other Merrimack Valley towns are asked to contact police if they see it.

Massachusetts Department of Public Safety officials say ice cream truck vendors must obtain a valid permit from the state.
