ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — Andover police say they’ve solved the mystery of the suspicious ice cream truck and determined that no harm was intended.

A 16-year-old girl told police she was walking home alone from school on Wednesday when a man driving a truck marked only with the words “Ice Cream” stopped and tried to talk to her, then drove off.

Police on Friday said a local ice cream vendor wanted to send a truck to the high school to give out ice cream to a family member’s sports team. The driver, however, was not familiar with the area and didn’t have an address so he stopped to ask the girl for directions.

The driver was “sorry he created such a fuss.”

Police say the girl did the right thing by contacting them.
