Thousands ride to Hyannisport to benefit Best Buddies

HYANNIS (WHDH) - Thousands of cyclists hit the road Saturday to ride from Boston to Hyannisport as part of the Best Buddies Challenge.

The 100-mile and 50-mile bicycle rides, which started in Dorchester and in Carver, raises millions of dollars to create friendships and career opportunities for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Among those who rode included former Patriots player Don Koeppen and 7’s Christa Delcamp and Brandon Gunnoe. 7’s Adam Williams, sidelined with a knee injury, pitched in by helping with announcing. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady also did some tandem bike rides with some of the Buddies.

Friday, members of the 7News team helped kick off the Best Buddies Challenge with Brady. The Tom Brady Football Challenge was held at Harvard Stadium.

Christa Delcamp and Adam Williams took the field as part of Team Tom Brady. In addition to Brady, other Patriots players like Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman participated in the game. Former Patriots players like Tedy Bruschi also took part.

Saturday’s bike rides raised $5.5 million for Best Buddies.
