WAKEFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - A Wakefield student had a frightening fall Wednesday when they fell out the rear door of their school bus.
Police said the student, who attends Galvin Middle School, was riding a school bus when it hit a bump while leaving the Dolbeare School. Police said the student was tossed out of the last row of seats, into the rear door and fell through onto the road.
“I was kind of nervous,” said Lauren Blois, who also attends Galvin Middle School. “I obviously hope he’s OK, that it wasn’t a major injury. But it’s scary to think it could have been anyone.”
Police said once the student fell out, the bus monitor yelled for the driver to stop. The student suffered some scrapes but was alert and responsive when help arrived.
The Wakefield School District said it is now investigating the incident. In the meantime, the school district said parents have been notified about the situation and have been told that school bus is now out of service.
North Redding Transportation, which provides the bus, told 7News they have no comment.
