WAYLAND, MASS. (WHDH) - Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Wayland on Friday.

Just before noon, police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on Route 27 near the intersection of Main Street.

The pedestrian was identified as a 35-year-old Wayland woman. She was seriously injured and was transported via medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.

The driver of the car has been identified as a 73-year-old Maynard woman.

According to police, the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

The crash remains under investigation.
