BOSTON (WHDH) - A police shooting overnight Wednesday into Thursday sent officers into an East Boston neighborhood.
People living in the area were ordered to stay inside as police tried to figure out the extent of what they were dealing with.
Witnesses captured the gunfire between Boston Police and a suspect during the intense shootout.
Others were outside on Gladstone Street when the shots rang out.
“When I came out of the house, he was popping still out of the house,”one witness said. “When I came out I saw swat running into the house, so I backed up bc all I heard was gunshots.”
Witnesses said the sound was unmistakable.
“I realized it was gunshots and it was rapid, wasn’t separated by seconds,” a second witness said.
As police searched for a possible second suspect, they ordered a shelter in place.
For those who were still outside, they didn’t know what was going on, only that the situation seemed extremely serious as police and SWAT teams went door to door.
Neighbors soon learned two officers were shot and a suspect was killed.
