BARNSTABLE, Mass. (WHDH) — A man, arrested for secretly videotaping young girls with his cell phone while they were tanning, was silent as he left court Monday morning.

Police said the pictures on Luis Macedo’s cell phone provide plenty of evidence for what he’s accused of doing inside a tanning salon in Barnstable. Macedo, 47, worked part time at Sunsational Tanning in Hyannis.

“He does have images, probably somewhere around 21 images of people that he secretly videotaped while they were in the booths,” said Sergeant Sean Sweeney, Barnstable Police Dept.

Police said they were tipped off by a 29-year-old customer who spotted a lens while she was tanning.

“She abruptly ended her session, got dressed and left. It was late at night. She was the only one there. She was a little scared,” said Sgt. Sweeney.

Police said they set up surveillance and a police officer waiting outside the salon actually caught him in the act.

“What he did was he scraped off an area like a little peephole and you can put a camera up against that and you can video tape someone inside disrobing and getting into the bed,” said Sgt. Sweeney.

Police said Macedo admitted to them that he videotaped the girls.

“He says he did not disseminate it onto the Internet, on the web,” said Sgt. Sweeney.

The suspect entered a not guilty plea. He was released on $1,000 bail.

Police said they know of two victims, but they expect more people to come forward.
