Man arrested, accused of lewd conduct at Bridgewater library

BRIDGEWATER, MA (WHDH) - A Bridgewater man was arrested Wednesday after police said he was watching pornography on a computer at the library.

Bridgewater Police said they were called to the Bridgewater Public Library on South Street at around 3:30 p.m. for a report of a man watching pornography on one of the library’s computers.

When officers arrived, they said they saw 43-year-old Fred Higgins watching pornography on the computer. They also reported seeing him performing a lewd act on himself. During the incident, police said 15-20 people were in that area of the library. The majority of patrons were teenagers. Police also said a 14-year-old was sitting next to the man at the table at the time.

Higgins was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious conduct, accosting and annoying a person of the opposite sex and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned Thursday morning.
