BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston police officers responded to a car crash on Rowes Wharf in Boston on Saturday night.

When the officers arrived, a Homeland Security officer and a Boston Harbor Hotel Security officer had a man in custody.

The hotel security officer reported that Jesse George Rausch, 26 of Enfield, CT, struck several vehicles with his car and then attempted to flee on foot.

A passerby helped the hotel security officer in stopping Rausch. A Homeland Security officer was also nearby and detained Rausch until Boston Police arrived.

According to police, an initial search of Rausch’s car revealed a largo nitrous oxide tank, which was quickly cleared and made safe by the BPD Bomb Squad.

According to police, a frisk of Rausch revealed multiple tabs of what appeared to be acid and a glass vial of what appeared to be crystal meth.

While searching the car police also found a large quantity of Rice Krispy and Trix treats packaged for sale that appeared to be laced with a hallucinogen. They also found a pill bottle containing a green-brown substance believed to be hashish, over $1200 and various drug paraphernalia. All evidence was seized by police.

According to police, Rausch displayed signs of being the under the influence of drugs.

Rausch has been charged with the following: Operating under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of Class C drugs, leaving the scene of a car crash causing personal injury and property damage, two counts of possession of Class D drugs and four counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs (LSD).
