Police arrested a 29-year-old man who had been taking pictures of Secretary of State John Kerry’s Beacon Hill home.

Officers said security for the state department spotted Vladimir Romanov standing outside Kerry’s Louisburg Square home Sunday afternoon and called police.

When officers arrived, they told Romanov to move his car from a no parking zone. It was then Romanov allegedly told police he couldn’t because he had been drinking.

Officers searched Romanov’s car and found an open container, a pellet gun and three cell phones.

Kerry was not home during the incident. He was at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital visiting his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry. Heinz Kerry was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in critical condition after a seizure. Her condition has improved.

Kerry’s spokesperson said Romanov told police he was there to take pictures for a friend, and then deleted the photos.

Romanov has only been charged with having an open container. He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
