PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A man who was driving erratically and without a license when he crashed in Maine last year, killing a 4-year-old passenger, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Michael Minson was sentenced Wednesday to 4 1/2 years behind bars for the Casco crash that killed Cameron Peterson and seriously injured his mother.
Minson apologized in court and says he made an awful, careless choice.
Minson was running late for his job when he lost control of the car and crashed into a utility pole. Cameron was thrown from the car in the crash and died on impact.
The Portland Press Herald reports Minson exceeded the 50 mph speed limit, but they didn’t specify by how much.
