NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - A New Bedford man was in court Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to murdering his 19-year-old daughter earlier in the summer.

Walter DaSilva, 45, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Connecticut last month. Police said he shot his daughter, Sabrina, back in July at her apartment when she was returning home from the grocery store.

DaSilva was ordered held without bail.

Prosecutors said DaSilva and his daughter had a strained relationship but reunited in May, just months before she was killed.
