Man rescued after falling through ice in Worcester

A man was taken to the hospital in Worcester Saturday after he fell through ice on a frozen pond at Elm Park.

Police said the man was trying to ride his bicycle across the pond’s surface when he crashed through.

The man was able to pull himself up onto the thin ice and then firefighters threw him a rope. He was pulled to safety and then a firefighter in a protective suit crawled on his hands and knees to retrieve the bicycle.

The man was brought to the hospital, where his condition is unknown.
