MANCHESTER, NH (WHDH) — A car chase in Manchester resulted in a shoot out.

William Cusson was driving on Merrimack near Pine Street with his girlfriend and two children when he found himself feet away from a green SUV and the officers who followed it.

“They were ramming into him, they were banging and smashing the windows. They just kept on telling him to get out of the car and he wasn’t trying to and they kept on going forward. Yeah he was driving right towards them. It was crazy,” said Cusson.

He said that’s when officers, including one on a bike, drew their weapons.

“They already had their weapons out and they were already basically shooting at the car,” said Cusson.

Students at an English class down the street took cover.

“We locked the main door and she said no one can go out,” said one student.

Witnesses said police pulled the man out of the SUV and he was rushed to the hospital. Manchester Police, the District Attorney and the State Police Major Crimes unit moved in and closed down the streets for a full investigation.
