The Essex District Attorney’s office says a Marblehead man pleaded guilty to child rape and child pornography charges on Wednesday.
Raymond DePaula, 43 of Marblehead, pleaded guilty before his trial was to start. He had been charged with multiple counts of aggravated rape of a chlid, posing a child in a state of nudity, dissemination of child pornography, and improper storage of firearms.
DePaula was sentenced to 20-25 years in state prison plus 10 years of probation and sex offender treatment.
The DA’s office says evidence would have been presented that showed DePaula had hundreds of pornographic images of children, including images of him sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
That child ultimately came forward to describe the repeated sexual assaults when she was between ages 8 and 12.
