BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Legislature is holding a rare weekend session, sandwiched between the Republican and Democratic national conventions.
Democratic leaders in both chambers are hoping to make progress Saturday on a slew of bills ahead of a July 31 deadline to complete work on major legislative items.
One bill up for a final vote is aimed at ensuring pay equity between men and women in the workplace. It also would bar employers from asking prospective workers to provide a salary history, though salary information could be offered voluntarily.
Other items that could come up are bills related to family and medical leave, reducing unlicensed driving by OUI offenders, strengthening the state’s anti-human trafficking laws, and financing local road repairs.
Lawmakers may also override some of Republican Gov. Charlie Baker’s budget vetoes.
