DES MOINES, IOWA (NBC) — A woman was arrested after a toddler was found home alone, dirty and sucking on frozen meat in Iowa.
Police headed to the house in Des Moines on Monday after a traffic stop. The driver told officers he was rushing home because a two-year-old boy was alone.
Officers found the child in the backyard with a full, sagging diaper, sucking on a frozen chicken breast. A small dog was jumping on the toddler, trying to get to the food.
There was no adult in sight.
The mother, Hallie Amick, has been charged with child endangerment and drug possession.
The child was not hurt.
