WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) — A young mother was holding her child at a popular park in Worcester when she was attacked by a man with a knife.
The man took her phone and other personal items before running for the nearby railroad tracks.
The mother was able to run to a nearby business and ask for help.
“She ran in crying for help. She didn't know where she was, she asked us to use the phone to call 911,” Dustin Wirzburger said.
Police say the attack occurred around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Parents that often visit the park said they’re on alert now.
“It’s very dangerous especially for us parents with little kids. My kids’ school is right here. It’s very frightening to hear that kind of thing happen here,” Robert Odanga said.
