CLERMONT, Fla. (WHDH) — A mother of one of the 49 victims killed at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando spoke with 7News about her son and how she is remembering him.

Stanley Almodovar III, 23, was originally from Springfield and lived with his mother Rosalie Ramos in Clermont, Florida.

“I still do not believe that he’s gone,” said Ramos tearfully. She said her son had a lot of friends and loved going out.

Ramos said she found out her son had been shot when she got a frantic phone call from one of his friends. Another woman also reached out to Ramos, telling her that Almodovar was a hero. Ramos said the woman told her Almodovar was shielding her and others from the gunfire when he was shot.
