WALTHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - A grocery store worker was taken to the hospital after a parking lot crash in Waltham.
A grocery store worker collecting carriages was hit by a car during the busy food shopping rush before Thanksgiving.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Russell Street Hannaford Supermarket in Waltham.
Witnesses said they saw a woman behind the wheel of a black Chevy Malibu back out of a spot, and not stop.
“One vehicle backed up and just kept backing up. Hit the cars, hit the carriage holder, hit a bunch of carriages…so there was a lot of destruction but not much injuries to people thank god,” said Dep. Chief Roger Herbert of Waltham Fire.
Six cars in total were damaged.
“I came out of the grocery store to find my car pretty much damaged on the front and on the side. I don’t know what happened but I was told it could get fixed. This is the first time something like this has happened to me so I’m a little speechless,” said Gayatri Srinivasin, whose car was hit.
No one was inside the banged up cars.
The hurt Hannaford’s worker was on the pavement when emergency crews arrived, but they said he was alert and conscious.
The driver of the car also went to the hospital to get checked out.
