BOSTON (AP) – Nearly one out of every four registered voters in Massachusetts has already cast their ballot in the upcoming presidential contest.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, about 977,000 Massachusetts residents had used the state’s first-ever early voting period to cast their ballots.

Another 136,000 individuals have returned absentee ballots.

All told, about 1.1 million of the state’s 4.5 million registered voters – more than 24 percent – have cast ballot ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Friday is the last day of early voting.

Voters can still apply for absentee ballots until noon on Monday if they won’t be in their community during the 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. polling hours on Election Day.

Residents who want to vote on Election Day can check the state’s election website to find their polling location.
