Nissan is recalling over 28,000 of its luxury Infiniti sedans in the U.S. for a potential steering issue.

2014 and 2015 Infiniti Q-50 gasoline and hybrid models are affected.

The cars use electronic steering systems that can malfunction under certain circumstances.

A dashboard warning light should appear when a malfunction occurs, but ignoring the warning could increase the risk of a crash.

Steering can become unresponsive and the steering wheel may be off center.

So far the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not reported any crashes or injuries attributed to this issue.

Nissan says Infiniti dealers will be ready to fix the problem starting August 9.
