Parents warned after Hingham girl receives obscene video on app

Police are warning parents after a girl in Hingham received an inappropriate video from a social media app.

The app, YouNow, allows users to livestream. Police said an 11-year-old girl received a video from a man pretending to be a girl the same age. When she opened the message, police said it was a live video of the man with no clothes on.

Police said the girl thought it was OK to open the video because she saw that the user was friends with other girls her age.

The man was unable to be tracked down because he quickly unfollowed the girl and changed his username. Police posted about the incident on their Twitter and Facebook pages, warning parents to be aware of what their children are doing online.
