LOS ANGELES (WHDH) - The Boston marathon bombing movie, “Patriot’s Day,” received rave reviews after it’s first screening in Los Angeles.

Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon and other stars from the movie hit the red carpet at the AFI Festival.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, many people in the audience were sniffling and wiping away tears throughout the screening.

The audience reportedly gave the movie a long standing ovation when it ended.

Wahlberg spoke to reporters before the screening.

“You want to be able to track the story with somebody that you can identify with,” said Wahlberg. “I didn’t really do anything other than my 18 years growing up there knowing what it’s like to be a Bostonian and having that deep-rooted in who I am and where I come from and what I stand for.”

“Patriots Day” hits theaters on December 21st.
