Members of The Charles River Conservancy showed some love for that dirty water—they said it’s now clean enough for swimming.

The non-profit proposed a permanent swimming area on the Charles River.

The river was once considered one of the most polluted waterways, but the group now says it’s the spot for summer fun.

The Charles River Conservancy wants to make the Charles the first urban river in the country to reintroduce swimming.

The pool/swimming area in the Charles would be built at the North Point Park, near the Museum of Science.

The non-profit is raising money to explore the idea. While the river has a not-so-clean reputation, people seem open to the idea.

Dozens of people did jump into the Charles River right off the Esplanade on Tuesday afternoon.

The Environmental Protection Agency rated the Charles River as a B+ during their last check in 2014.
