HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut State Police say a small plane crashed in East Haddam, but no one was injured.

The State Police said troopers and firefighters from East Haddam responded to the Goodspeed Airport on Saturday for a report of a crash involving a single-engine, propeller plane.

The pilot and passenger in the two-seater plane were not injured.

Police say the pilot and passenger said that while they were attempting to take off, the plane went downward, went off the runway and came to a stop in an adjacent field.

The plane stopped about 95 feet from the runway. State Police are investigating.

Police say the Federal Aviation Administration was notified and will also investigate.

The bottom of the plane was damaged.
